In
the year 1717 two young adults, Bob and Ben, set sail off the coast of
their hometown in the Virginia colony and due to a powerful storm at
sea, unwittingly find themselves shipwrecked on a tropical island.
Through Bob’s narration, we meet the unforgettable characters
of Captain John, his eccentric dog Shark, and Lydia, Ben’s
new lover, and how their marooned crew attempted to discover the
location of a hidden boat and treasure rumored to have been stashed
somewhere on the island by the infamous pirate Blackbeard. However,
time is running out because Captain John is willing to sacrifice
Bob’s life if necessary if he does not succeed with
uncovering the desired items. This classic adventure coupled with a
timeless love story is entwined with philosophical twists and treats
that will entertain readers for generations because of its
unflinchingly courageous approach of highlighting what is most precious
in love and in life.
